Overview
The Forklift Operator (Sit-Down & Stand-Up) is responsible for safely moving, stacking, and organizing fresh produce and logistics materials within warehouse, dock, and cold storage environments. This role ensures product integrity, accurate inventory flow, and timely shipping.
Skills and Experience
Experience
- Operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts safely and efficiently
- Load and unload produce from trailers and dock doors
- Transport pallets to coolers, freezers, staging, and storage locations
- Stack and organize pallets according to warehouse layout and safety standards
- Build, wrap, and stage pallets for outbound shipments
- Verify product labels, weights, and quantities
- Follow FIFO rotation for perishable inventory
- Perform quality control checks to prevent damage or spoilage
- Conduct pre-shift forklift inspections and report issues
- Maintain clean, organized, and food-safe work areas
- Follow OSHA, food safety, and company safety procedures
- Assist with inventory counts and general warehouse tasks as needed
Skills
- Experience operating sit-down and/or stand-up forklifts
- Forklift certification required or ability to obtain
- Experience in produce, cold storage, or logistics preferred
- Ability to work in refrigerated environments
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Strong attention to safety and accuracy
