Overview

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine machinery maintenance, including lubrication, part replacement, repairs, adjustments, and testing of machines and equipment. This role supports the safe and efficient operation of mechanical—and some electronic—systems by identifying issues, performing preventative maintenance, and collaborating with team members to keep equipment in optimal condition.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reassemble machines following completion of repair or maintenance work.

  • Start machines and monitor mechanical operation to evaluate efficiency and identify problems.

  • Inspect and test damaged machine parts; mark defective areas or notify supervisors of repair needs.

  • Lubricate machines, machine parts, and equipment in accordance with established procedures.

  • Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments based on production specifications.

  • Dismantle machines and remove defective parts for repair or replacement.

  • Record production, repair, and maintenance activities accurately.

  • Read and interpret work orders and specifications to determine maintenance or repair requirements.

  • Set up and operate machines, adjusting controls to regulate operations.

  • Work collaboratively with other personnel to repair or relocate machines, machine parts, or equipment.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an apprenticeship program preferred.

  • One to two years of related work experience in mechanical maintenance.

  • Strong knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.

  • Ability to use email systems and preventative maintenance database software.

Physical Demands

  • Must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Regularly required to walk, stand, bend, and perform physical tasks associated with machine maintenance.
