The Role Overview
As a CNC Press Brake Setup/Operator, you will be essential in transforming raw materials into precision-formed parts that meet exact engineering specifications. This role requires an expert level of technical skill in machine setup, tooling selection, programming, and quality inspection.
Skills and Experience
Key Responsibilities & Focus Areas
I. Setup, Programming & Operation
- Expert Setup: Set up, program, and operate various CNC press brake machines.
- Interpretation: Analyze and accurately interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and production schedules.
- Tooling: Select, measure, and install appropriate punches and dies to achieve required bend angles and dimensions for various metals (e.g., steel, aluminum, stainless steel).
- Optimization: Adjust machine control settings (speed, stroke length, back gauge) to optimize cycle time and part quality.
II. Quality Assurance & Precision
- Meticulous Inspection: Perform critical first-piece and in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, digital calipers, protractors).
- Tolerance Control: Position and align workpieces precisely to maintain accurate bending angles and tolerances.
- Correction: Monitor machine performance and finished parts, making immediate adjustments and offsets as needed to maintain high product quality standards.
III. Maintenance & Safety
- Execute routine preventative maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on equipment.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and procedures at all times.
Required Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate:
- Proven Experience: Documented experience as a Press Brake Setup/Operator in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
- Technical Literacy: Strong ability to read and accurately interpret technical documents (blueprints, schematics, engineering drawings).
- Measurement Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, squares).
- Material Knowledge: Solid knowledge of different metal materials and their forming characteristics.
- Detail-Oriented: Excellent attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to producing high-quality work efficiently.
