Overview

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Water Plant Operator to join our team. This role is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining water treatment systems that ensure safe, clean, and compliant drinking water for the community. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and able to follow strict procedures 

Skills and Experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and adjust water treatment equipment such as pumps, valves, filtration systems, and chemical feed units.
  • Perform regular facility inspections to ensure proper flow, pressure, and system functionality.
  • Collect, test, and document water samples to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Adjust chemical dosages based on test results and plant needs.
  • Maintain accurate logs, operational charts, and daily reports.
  • Assist in identifying mechanical issues and coordinating repairs or preventive maintenance.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including chemical handling, PPE use, and confined-space entry.
  • Respond to emergency situations such as alarms, equipment failures, or weather-related system issues.
  • Keep the plant and surrounding work area clean, orderly, and in operational condition.
Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License (DL)
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to pass an MVR check
  • At least 1 year of related experience (utilities, wastewater/water treatment, mechanical, industrial, or maintenance)
  • Basic math skills (fractions, measurements, chemical calculations, unit conversions)
