Overview
We are looking for a skilled Chiller/HVAC Technician to join our Facilities Management team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the reliable, safe, and efficient operation of our central plant and building systems. You’ll work with large-scale centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, pumps, boilers, and air handling units that support our world-class research, education, and healthcare facilities.

Skills and Experience
What You’ll Do
- Operate, monitor, and maintain centrifugal chillers (up to 2,000 tons), cooling towers, pumps, boilers, and HVAC systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair to maximize equipment reliability.
- Use Building Automation Systems (BAS) and CMMS tools to monitor performance, track work orders, and complete service logs.
- Inspect, test, and calibrate HVAC and mechanical systems to ensure compliance with EPA, OSHA, and NFPA standards.
- Respond quickly to urgent repair needs and assist with emergency preparedness and recovery efforts.
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and other facilities staff to deliver system upgrades and renovations.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior technicians.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: At least 3+ years of hands-on HVAC experience, with strong knowledge of chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and boilers in commercial or institutional settings.
- Technical Skills: Skilled in reading blueprints/schematics, electrical wiring, troubleshooting, and mechanical system diagnostics.
- Certifications (Required):
- EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (mandatory for refrigerant handling)
- OSHA-10 or OSHA-30
