Overview
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Plant Manager to provide overall leadership for a large-scale manufacturing and operations facility. This position is responsible for leading daily operations while ensuring high standards of safety, quality, productivity, customer service, employee engagement, and financial performance.
The Plant Manager will serve as the primary operational leader, overseeing production, materials, inventory, shipping, quality, staffing, safety, continuous improvement, and overall facility performance.
This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an experienced operations professional who can lead a large team, manage changing business demands, develop people, improve processes, and drive measurable results.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Lead daily facility operations and ensure production goals are achieved.
- Oversee production, materials, inventory, shipping, and workflow.
- Ensure established operating procedures and quality standards are consistently followed.
- Lead daily operations meetings and communicate priorities across the organization.
- Monitor production throughput, staffing levels, and workflow efficiency.
- Allocate labor based on production requirements.
- Respond effectively to changes in production volume and business needs.
- Maintain operational readiness during periods of increased demand.
Production & Workforce Management
- Develop and manage daily production schedules.
- Ensure production and shipment schedules are consistently met.
- Monitor productivity and operational efficiency.
- Balance labor requirements and optimize workforce utilization.
- Plan and manage overtime when necessary.
- Develop staffing plans to support changing production requirements.
- Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and hourly employees.
- Partner with recruiting and staffing resources when additional workforce support is needed.
Inventory & Materials Management
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and reporting.
- Oversee inventory reconciliation and cycle count programs.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies, shortages, overages, and damages.
- Ensure proper handling and disposition of non-conforming or damaged materials.
- Develop processes to improve inventory accuracy and reduce losses.
- Ensure materials are available to support production requirements.
Quality Management
- Establish and maintain a strong quality culture throughout the facility.
- Oversee incoming, in-process, and final quality inspections.
- Monitor quality performance and identify trends.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis and corrective action efforts.
- Develop and implement preventative measures to reduce defects and quality issues.
- Conduct internal quality reviews and drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure products and processes consistently meet established quality requirements.
Systems & Process Management
- Ensure accurate use of operational and inventory management systems.
- Maintain accurate production, inventory, and shipping information.
- Monitor reporting and transaction accuracy.
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and data integrity.
- Partner with internal support teams to resolve system and process issues.
Customer & Internal Relationships
- Serve as a key operational contact for business partners and internal leadership.
- Maintain strong professional relationships and communication.
- Participate in operational and performance reviews.
- Communicate facility performance, challenges, and improvement opportunities to leadership.
- Respond quickly and professionally to changing business requirements.
Continuous Improvement
Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on:

Safety & Compliance
- Establish and maintain a strong safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable safety requirements.
- Oversee forklift and equipment safety.
- Ensure appropriate PPE and safety procedures are followed.
- Support safety training and employee engagement.
- Lead safety improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a goal of zero recordable incidents.
Financial & Business Performance
- Manage labor costs and operational expenses.
- Monitor overtime and productivity.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Support capital equipment planning.
- Minimize waste and operational losses.
- Monitor facility performance against established financial goals.
- Provide regular operational and financial reporting to leadership.

Skills and Experience
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, logistics, or related operations.
- 5+ years of experience in a Plant Manager, Operations Manager, Distribution Manager, or similar leadership role.
- Experience leading large-scale operations and teams.
- Experience managing changing production volumes and workforce requirements.
- Strong background in operational performance management.
- Experience with inventory and operational management systems.
- Demonstrated success implementing Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Proven ability to lead and develop large teams.
Preferred Certifications
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
- APICS CPIM or CSCP
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification
- Forklift Trainer Certification
