Overview

Job Responsibilities:

Set up and operate all Tool Room machines and equipment efficiently, including grinders, lathes, milling machines, drill presses, saws, planers, sanders, and welding equipment (MIG, TIG, arc, and acetylene).
Skillfully use machinist and patternmaker hand tools, along with precision measuring instruments.
Fabricate, assemble, and repair metal, plastic, and wood parts, tools, jigs, fixtures, master patterns, core boxes, and dies from prints, sketches, or templates.
Construct, calibrate, and set gauges and precision measuring instruments.
Sharpen tools and maintain accuracy to a minimum tolerance of .001.
Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
Perform additional job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or group leader.
Work independently with minimal instruction or supervision.

Skills and Experience

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required
Completion of a Patternmaker Apprenticeship Program
Minimum 5 years of experience in a toolroom environment
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and design models
Excellent fine motor skills and strong attention to detail
Ability to work accurately under deadlines
Dependable with consistent attendance and adherence to company policies
Willingness to work overtime as needed
Physically fit: able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly
Comfortable working in a union shop
Preferred: Experience with CNC mill and/or RAM EDM setup and operation
