Onin Staffing is hiring a 2nd shift Tool & Die Maker/Apprentice!
This role is dedicated to the high-precision fabrication, maintenance, and repair of specialized manufacturing equipment, including dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
Core Responsibilities
- Fabrication & Maintenance: Construct and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, and machine components in coordination with Engineering.
- Machine Operation: Set up and operate lathes, milling machines, and grinders to produce parts and prototypes.
- Blueprint Analysis: Study specifications and models to plan layouts, compute dimensions, and determine assembly sequences.
- Quality Control: Verify the dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts to ensure total conformance to drawings.
- Technical Support: Assist other machinists and press personnel with complex setups and recommend design modifications for improved function.
Physical Demands & Safety
- Physical Activity: Regular standing for long periods, walking, and climbing stairs.
- Lifting Requirements: Regularly lift 25 lbs and occasionally move up to 35 lbs.
- Work Environment: Primarily a manufacturing floor with moderate noise and limited exposure to physical risk.
- Required PPE: Safety-toe boots, eye protection, and hearing protection are mandatory.
Primary Accountabilities
- Accuracy of all inspections and measurements.
- Timely completion of reports and documentation.
- Consistent adherence to safety performance targets.
Skills and Experience
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 1 to 2 years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical Literacy: Ability to read blueprints, interpret complex technical instructions, and use all precision measuring instruments.
- Mathematical Proficiency: Skilled in applying proportions, percentages, ratios, and fractions to practical machining situations.
- Problem Solving: Capability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions in non-standardized environments.
