Production Buyer/Scheduler (contract)

Overview

Scheduler Pay: $26 hr. M-F: 7am-4pm Location: 77041 The Production Buyer/Planner is responsible for coordinating material procurement, planning production schedules, and ensuring the efficient flow of materials to support manufacturing operations. This role works closely with suppliers, production teams, and internal departments to maintain optimal inventory levels, meet production deadlines, and support operational goals. Key Responsibilities Plan, schedule, and coordinate production activities to meet demand forecasts and customer requirements. Generate and manage purchase orders for raw materials, components, and supplies according to production needs. Monitor inventory levels to ensure availability while preventing overstock or shortages. Track and expedite purchase orders, resolving delays or discrepancies with suppliers. Review MRP (Material Requirements Planning) reports and adjust plans based on operational changes. Maintain accurate records of purchasing data, lead times, pricing, and vendor performance. Collaborate with production, warehouse, and quality teams to ensure materials meet specifications and production timelines. Identify cost-saving opportunities through supplier negotiations and process improvements. Support cycle counts and inventory audits to maintain data accuracy. Coordinate with logistics and shipping teams for inbound materials and delivery scheduling. Address material-related issues on the production floor and implement corrective actions. Qualifications 2–4 years of experience in production planning, purchasing, or supply chain operations (manufacturing environment preferred). Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems and production workflows. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills for supplier and cross-department coordination. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other planning tools. Preferred Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices. Background working with multiple suppliers and high-volume production cycles.

Skills and Experience

Two years of dispatching, shop scheduling or production planning experience in a computerized manufacturing system environment or demonstrated ability to perform described responsibilities • Knowledge of material requirements planning, capacity planning and shop floor control required • General understanding of manufacturing routing, travelers and blueprints • High School Diploma or equivalent
