Overview
Onin Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Wire Rope Fabricator for the New Iberia, Louisiana area. This position is responsible for fabricating, inspecting, and assembling various rope products to meet high-quality standards and customer specifications.
Position Overview
Assembler/Fabricator accurately identifies different diameters, and the best possible applications for an array of products that include wire rope, wire rope fittings, wire rope slings, chains, synthetic web and round slings.
Skills and Experience
Key Responsibilities/Essential Duties
- Review, interpret drawings, blueprints, and capacity tables
- Understand codes and specifications as outlined on order tickets
- Calculate wire rope cut lengths, fitting requirements, and identifying the appropriate equipment to produce all varieties of wire or synthetic rope and chain assemblies
- Splicing wire rope and fabricating chain slings
- Understanding and operation of industrial swaging machines, proof testing machines, and forklifts
- Attach proper tags and labels to products
- Maintain Inventory Records
- Report on defective or substandard material supplies or products
- Shipping and receiving goods
- Maintain work area, equipment, and tools in a clean and organized manner, and follow all Safety Guidelines
- May be required to assist with deliveries when needed
Physical Requirements
- The nature of work involves considerable physical effort and stamina to perform mechanical tasks
- Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. of weight routinely during daily operations
- Clear vision (with or without corrective lenses) is required. Precise hand-eye coordination is essential for cutting, splicing, and attaching fittings
- Bend, stretch, twist, or reach out, use multiple muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects, and make fast, repeated movements of shoulders, fingers, hands, and wrists
- Standing for extended periods during shift
- Frequent bending or crouching to work on machinery or fit wire ropes into place
- Exposure to extreme heat or cold in the warehouse
Required Skills/Abilities
- Prior experience with fabrication or wire rope required
- Familiarity with industrial tools like cutting machines, swagers, crimping tools, and winches is preferred
- Proficient at math and reading
- Must be able to manage your time
- Must be able to accurately read a tape measure or digital micrometer
- Must be persistent, energetic, and reliable
- Adhere to safety requirements and procedures and comply with the Company’s “Stop Work” policy
- Able to work in a team environment and assist co-workers and Supervisor with other duties as required
- High School Diploma or GED required
