Job Title: Machine Shop Manager 📍 Location: El Paso, TX 🏭 Department: CNC Machine Shop 💼 Employment Type: Direct Hire 💰 Pay: $80,000 annually 👤 Reports To: Site Leadership Job Purpose The Machine Shop Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the CNC Machine Shop. This role leads machining teams to meet production schedules, quality standards, safety requirements, and financial objectives while fostering a strong team culture. The Manager drives continuous improvement through machining best practices, process optimization, and effective use of technology. This position supports manufacturing operations producing precision components and plays a key role in process design, maintenance coordination, lean initiatives, and new product introductions. Key Responsibilities Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment through training and regular inspections. Manage daily CNC machining operations producing components for downstream assembly. Supervise, train, and coach machinists and operators on CNC mills, CNC lathes, and secondary processes. Oversee machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting of CNC equipment. Plan and schedule production to meet customer demand, optimize capacity, and minimize bottlenecks. Utilize ERP systems to manage job orders, routings, BOMs, and production schedules. Review engineering drawings, initiate tooling requests, assist with CNC programming, and resolve machining issues. Conduct performance evaluations and manage staffing levels, timecards, and attendance. Perform quality inspections using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers. Support new product introductions, product transfers, engineering changes, and production readiness. Lead continuous improvement efforts through Gemba walks, KPI analysis, and lean initiatives (5S, waste reduction). Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Operations teams. Requirements & Qualifications 4+ years of leadership experience in a CNC machine shop environment preferred. Strong knowledge of CNC machining, tooling, and shop floor operations. Experience with production planning, scheduling, and capacity optimization. Proficiency with ERP systems. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of safety standards, quality systems, and continuous improvement practices (Lean / 5S). Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (medical device preferred) is a plus.
