Overview
Seeking an experienced operator to run industrial cylinder‑arm sewing machines for the production of high‑quality sewn goods such as camera bags, duffle bags, and tool cases. Responsibilities include machine setup and operation, precise material handling, quality inspection, basic maintenance, and following technical instructions and work orders.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate Machinery: Set up, operate, and tend industrial cylinder arm sewing machines to join, reinforce, or decorate materials according to specifications.
- Material Handling: Position and maneuver materials (e.g., leather, heavy canvas, vinyl, foam) under the machine needle and presser foot, using guides or marks as templates for accurate stitching in cylindrical or confined areas.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished products for defects, damage, or stains to ensure they conform to quality standards and design specifications.
- Machine Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance tasks such as changing needles, cleaning and oiling the machine, and replacing worn components to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Technical Instruction & Work Orders: Interpret and follow technical instructions, patterns, drawings, gold samples and work orders to determine material requirements, proper stitching techniques, and sequence of operations.
- Troubleshoot: Monitor machine operation to detect problems or malfunctions and perform minor troubleshooting or report significant issues to a supervisor or mechanic.
- Documentation: Accurately record production data, pieces completed, quality documents, and any maintenance performed during a shift.
- Safety & Teamwork: Adhere to all safety protocols and collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to optimize workflow and achieve production targets.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Proven experience operating industrial sewing machines, preferably with specific experience on cylinder arm, walking foot, or heavy-duty machines. Minimum 10 years experience.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of sewing machine mechanics, various stitching techniques, and the ability to adjust machine settings for different materials and specifications.
- Dexterity: Excellent manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and control precision to handle materials and guide stitching with accuracy.
- Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail to spot defects and ensure high-quality output.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and lift/move materials or products as required in a manufacturing environment (e.g., up to 50 lbs).
- Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to identifying and addressing minor machine or production issues.
- Communication: Effective communication skills to work well in a team environment and report issues to supervisors.
