Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Technician to support food safety, quality systems, and regulatory compliance within our production facility. This role plays a critical part in ensuring our products meet all safety and quality standards while maintaining audit-ready conditions at all times.

Skills and Experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily quality checks including:

    • Scale verification

    • Metal detector checks

    • Baking temperature verification

    • Thermometer calibration

    • Product codes, labels, and pre-operation inspections

  • Conduct quality control checks on finished products to ensure weight, safety, and traceability compliance

  • Collect line samples and environmental monitoring swabs

  • Perform internal audits in partnership with the SQF Practitioner

  • Enforce GMPs, SSOPs, and food safety programs

  • Assist with validation studies and in-house quality testing

  • Coordinate with pest control and sanitation vendors weekly and follow up on corrective actions

  • Submit samples to outside laboratories and maintain proper records

  • Maintain and organize quality and production documentation

  • Isolate and document foreign material incidents and follow corrective action protocols

  • Issue “Hold” and “Approved” tags on materials

  • Communicate all quality issues directly to the Quality Director

  • Train new hires and annual refreshers on food safety and quality programs

  • Support the sanitation department in maintaining an audit-ready facility

  • Provide coverage for other QA staff as needed

  • Perform additional QA duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in food manufacturing, quality control, or food safety preferred

  • Knowledge of:

    • GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices)

    • SSOPs (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures)

    • SQF and food safety programs

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Comfortable working on the production floor in a bakery environment

  • Able to communicate effectively with production, sanitation, and leadership teams
