Overview

Scale Operations: 
  • Weighs trucks and other vehicles entering and exiting the facility, accurately recording the data into the system.

    Record Keeping: 
  • Maintains detailed logs of all incoming and outgoing loads, including weights, dates, and vendor information.

    Communication: 
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for truck drivers, providing instructions, answering questions, and managing traffic flow.

    Load Quality: 
  • Notifies plant operators about incoming loads of materials (such as OCC and SS) so they can inspect the material for quality and potential deductions.

    Documentation: 
  • Creates and maintains records of any material deductions, often including photographic evidence for accounting purposes.

    Administrative Duties: 
  • Assists with various administrative and accounting tasks, including data entry into SAP or other accounting software.

    Safety: 
  • Adheres to all safety requirements, wears appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and participates in safety meetings.

    Housekeeping: 
  • Maintains cleanliness and adequate supplies within the scale house. 

Skills and Experience

  • Attention to Detail: Essential for accurate data entry and record-keeping. 


  • Communication Skills: Needed for effective interaction with drivers and plant personnel. 


  • Basic Accounting Skills: Knowledge of basic accounting principles is beneficial, as is experience with software like Excel or SAP. 


  • Computer Proficiency: Ability to use computer systems for data entry and record management. 


  • High School Diploma or GED: Typically the minimum educational requirement. 


  • Physical Demands: Must be able to work in varying climates and manufacturing environments and be at least 18 years old. 


  • Teamwork: Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers.
