Overview
The Role: Precision Setup and Operation
The Die Setter is responsible for the complete setup, alignment, and operation of automatic punch presses, ensuring all parts meet strict quality standards.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties)
- Setup Planning: Plan complex press setups for various operations, including blanking, piercing, notching, trimming, forming, and stamping.
- Die Installation: Accurately install, position, and align die sets in the press. Adjust shut height and secure the dies.
- Material and Feed Setup: Set up materials on the payoff reel/dereeler, adjust the straightener, and set the correct stock feed length for precise material delivery into the die.
- Operation & Quality Check: Run sample parts, check dimensions, and perform necessary press adjustments. Complete the first piece inspection documentation.
- Safety: Set and rigorously check all press safety devices for proper operation before production runs.
- Monitoring & Maintenance: Monitor the press during operation and perform scheduled procedures; tear down setups upon completion and manage scrap material.

Required Skills & Experience
- Setup Experience (Preferred): At least one year performing setup is preferred.
- OR - Commitment to Training: If you are willing to learn and commit to our long-term training programs, We will train you to work from setup sheets, prints, job cards, and manufacturing work orders.
- Measurement Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to properly use micrometers and dial calipers. (We offer training in proper use if this requirement is met through the commitment to the training program.)
- Versatility: Proven ability to perform diversified work, which may include setting up and operating spring coiling machines.
- Tools: Ability to use hand pallet jacks and various hand tools.
