Computer Aided Design Drafter

Overview

-Uses computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software to develop designs, create production drawings (detailed multi-view and assembly drawings).
-Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, materials and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
-Revises and updates existing drawings reflecting design changes to ensure consistent documentation.
-Creates documentation for determining shipping requirements for product deliveries (load drawings).
-Creates and maintains programs and documentation for CNC production equipment.
-Processes and verifies Work Orders, accurately completing work tasks according to schedule and changing priorities.
-Establish filing guidelines for drawings to maintain up-to-date drawings and an accurate CAD database.
-Creates and maintains records, design calculations and other documentation (e.g. Bill of Materials, model weight, raw stock requirements, design parameters, and costing) for future reference.
-Liaises with customer and production personnel to clarify requirements and resolve issues with any design/drawing.
-Active participant in product improvement efforts, quality checks, and educating team members about products.
-Assists in creating and maintaining marketing material.
Travel, shift work, and overtime may be required to accomplish some of the above tasks.
-Exhibit and practice professional and courteous behavior while interacting with both internal and external customers.
-Interact within a cooperative environment through beneficial behavior, commitment to common goals, contribution to problem solving, communication of ideas and suggestions, and encouragement to other employees and departments.
-Accountable for the security of CTB materials, projects and business information regarding the methods and techniques used in the production and usage of CTB products.
-Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks.
Able to adhere to a work schedule including prompt and regular attendance.

Skills and Experience

-Associate's degree or completion of a technical trade school in CAD, drafting or related field plus 2 years practical experience utilizing relevant CAD system in a production environment. 5 years practical design/drafting experience in a similar environment will be considered equivalent.

-Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook,
and Excel) and Epicor experience preferred.
-Experience using AutoCAD 2D design software in a production environment is required. Experience using ProNest software and Mazak Laser Nesting software.
-PC’s, PC hardware, and basic office equipment, CNC cutting tables and relative software.
