What You’ll Do as a Yard Truck Driver / Switcher:
- Expertly maneuvering 48' or 53' trailers using an automatic 10-speed International double-axle tractor.
- Ensuring equipment reliability through regular preventative maintenance checks and services.
- Maintaining accurate daily inventory of trailers and materials.
- Efficiently moving trailers to designated dock locations.
- Transporting trailers to the scale house for weighing.
- Implementing and maintaining proper safety protocols for stored trailers (chocking, locking, and blocking).
- Connecting to and unloading walking floor trailers on the MRF Tip Floor using hydraulic wet lines as needed.
- Keeping dock door areas and underneath dock plates clean and organized.
- Operating a forklift safely and efficiently.
- Weighing storage trailers and supporting end-of-month inventory processes.
- Providing support to the Commercial Team Lead with various tasks as required.
Skills and Experience
What You'll Bring as a Preferred Candidate:
- Prior experience operating tractor-trailers is highly valued
- While a Class A CDL is a plus, it is not a mandatory requirement
- Comfort and ability to work effectively in a non-climate-controlled environment
