Operating a reach truck to load, unload, and move materials in a warehouse. Key responsibilities include reading production schedules and orders, picking and preparing products for shipment, sorting and placing items on racks, and ensuring the safe and accurate handling of goods. The role requires operating warehouse equipment and following safety procedures in a fast-paced environment.
- Operate equipment: Safely operate a reach truck and other powered equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks to move materials.
- Load and unload: Load and unload materials for shipment, ensuring the correct quantity and type of product is handled.
- Order fulfillment: Read work orders, customer orders, or requisitions to pick and assemble products for shipment.
- Stock and sort: Sort and place materials onto racks, shelves, or into bins according to a predetermined sequence.
- Warehouse operations: Move, stack, and stage products and materials within the facility.
- Safety and accuracy: Adhere to all safety procedures to ensure the safe and accurate receipt, storage, and shipment of goods.
- Collaboration: Work with supervisors to optimize workflow and efficiency.
Skills and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent is generally required.
- At least 18 years old.
- Prior experience operating warehouse equipment like reach trucks is beneficial, but on-the-job training may be offered.
- Ability to stay focused in a fast-paced and potentially noisy environment.
- Strong attention to detail to prevent errors.
- Good communication skills for working with team members and supervisors.
- Physical stamina to handle demanding tasks.
- A strong work ethic and reliability.
