Overview

 The Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing general maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of housing authority properties, including buildings, grounds, and equipment. This role ensures that units are safe, clean, and in good repair to meet regulatory standards and support resident satisfaction. 

Skills and Experience

Perform routine repairs in housing units and common areas painting, and appliance maintenance.

Conduct inspections of units and facilities to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards.

Respond to work orders promptly and maintain accurate records of work performed.

Prepare vacant units for occupancy, including cleaning, painting, and necessary repairs (unit turnover).

Maintain exterior grounds (e.g., lawn care, trash pickup, minor landscaping).

Ensure all maintenance work complies with housing authority policies, safety standards, and applicable codes.

Report potential issues or needed major repairs to the Maintenance Supervisor or Property Manager.

Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.

Safely use and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles.

Assist with inspections conducted by HUD or other regulatory agencies.
