What You’ll Do as a Maintenance Mechanic I:
Responsible for performing preventive maintenance work and checks on a variety of plant equipment and production machines according to a specified preventative maintenance schedule. Analyzes and repairs machines and equipment when potential problems are discovered during preventive maintenance checks. Primarily responsible for care of the batteries and the battery area.
- Performs required oiling and greasing of all plant equipment and machines such as conveyor, pallet jacks, pallet de-stacker, multi-shifter, etc., according to schedule and equipment specification.
- Performs specified preventative maintenance checks for potential problems such as wear on shafts, chains, sprockets or belts using feeler gages, calipers, etc.; malfunctions in automatic lubrication systems using ohmmeter; wear on hoses; burned out fuses or bulbs, etc.
- Inspects equipment and machinery and analyzes problem areas to determine corrective action necessary for repairs. Uses blueprints, schematics, machine manuals, verbal instructions, etc. in determining equipment repair procedures.
- Replaces or repairs worn or defective parts such as hoses, switches, fuses, bearings, relays, belts, lubrication lines, hydraulic valves, etc.
- Analyzes a variety of electrical controls using voltmeter and schematics, cleans or replaces contacts, relays, etc., as necessary.
- Responsible for maintaining plant equipment and machinery in good condition and appearance. Cleans equipment to remove dirt, oil and grease and paints or retouches paint as required.
- Assist in the installation and/or rebuilding of plant equipment to restore equipment to original operating condition.
- As necessary, performs minor sheet metal, plumbing, carpentry, painting or concrete work.
- Keeps spare parts organized and parts used logged to allow a monthly restocking to occur.
- One of the primary responsibilities is for charging, changing and washing batteries, along with conducting normal monthly PM on the batteries. Also responsible for evaporating battery wash water along logging the amount evaporated.
- Must be willing to work overtime and be flexible in the hours worked.
Skills and Experience
What You’ll Bring as a Preferred Candidate:

- 1–2 years of related experience in facilities or industrial maintenance
